Meet Iris

Iris Lin holds a Master of Music in Violin Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Music from the Cologne University of Music in Germany. Trained across Taiwan, Germany, and the United States, she brings an international standard to every lesson she teaches, and she is certified in the Suzuki Method for violin.

She has taught piano for seven years, from a child's very first lesson through advanced repertoire, earning a 5.0 rating across 31 reviews. And she still performs professionally today, as principal second violin with City Ballet of San Diego and in Moonlight Amphitheatre productions.

Students learn correct technique from the start, and students who picked up bad habits elsewhere get them carefully fixed, so that what they learn lasts.

My son, Harlow was ready to quit until he met Miss Iris. She’s so exceptionally talented and patient… He’s having his first recital next week and is excited to show his talent.

Patricia J. · piano parent

She has developed a wonderful rapport with both of our children and they look forward to their lessons every week… They recently participated in an international showcase and they both received the highest honors.

Rachel S. · parent of two students

I feel privileged to have Ms. Iris Lin as my violin teacher… She is able to connect with the student, understand what is happening, and inform the student. I am 77 years old and have studied violin for about 30 years.

The first meeting is a free consultation and trial lesson, about thirty minutes. Iris hears the student play or starts them from scratch, gets a read on level and goals, and tells you plainly what a realistic path looks like. There is no cost and no obligation.

Yes, and it is a large part of what Iris does. Posture, bow hold, hand position, and reading habits can all be rebuilt. It takes patience and it is easier the sooner it starts, but the alternative is a ceiling the student eventually hits.
